Local Maple Syrup Producers Tapping Ancient Spring Bounty

Did you know that the first nations peoples were the first to boil maple sap to create maple syrup and maple sugar? There is a legend that many years ago, maple syrup flowed directly from the trees, but people became lazy, and would only lie around all day letting the syrup run directly into their mouths, so the Great Spirit changed the sap so people would have to work to get the syrup.
This Hooked rug pattern from Craftsy celebrates Maple Syrup time with a horse drawn cart bringing sap to the large iron pot over the outdoor fire. There's a good reason maple sap was boiled outside rather than indoors before the days of evaporating tanks.
